Stay safe

Warning signs

Stop and ask for advice if you see any of these, from anyone.

  • Someone asks for money to “guarantee” a job or a permit.
  • You are asked to hand over your passport.
  • The offer has no written contract, or the contract is in a language you cannot read.
  • Pay and conditions sound far better than the rest of the market.

Fees

Under Serbian law, private employment agencies may not charge unemployed job seekers for employment mediation.

Ask for any fee terms in writing before you sign anything. Official permit fees are paid to the state and are listed on the government’s permit pages.
